Dear mother and father, i am finnaly able to write to you this , the whole column has been a mess lately we have been marching at fast pace. How are you? I must say, that, although this campaign has great promisse, i miss you, specially horse ridding with you sir. I am glad to hear that cousin Aemilia got engadged to Edmund, lets just hope he makes it safely from the Sudan, it seems General Gordon is doing excelent work in organizing the region, if you send Edmund a letter yourselves tell him i sent the best of luck. By the way, how his the professor? I never thought good of those terrible back sours he always had. Anyway, i would just like to say that, if you hadn´t prepared me for this sir, it would be much more difficult to withstand. I am writing you from a place called Isandlwana, we arrived on this very day, we had a brief enconter with some Zulu savages, but we soon straightened them out, yet, reports say that there are many more to discipline. These madmen launch them selves on attact armed with simple spears. I belive all this confusion will be over before mothers birthday. All and all its not that bad here, a tad hot, mosquito net stays up all night. Sometimes when we are lucky the colour Sargent sends us to go huting, untill now i've seen soup made from every kind of antilope i know and others i didn't even thought existed. Well, thats about it, its almost time for my stake out, im going to be up half of the night, these savages like to surpirse attack on the middle of the night, but, nothing to worry about, we are in large number, it will make them think twice before attacking.
